Irwin ,  Iowa cowgirl Rachel Burton represents the Hawkeye State  this year as Miss Teen Rodeo Iowa 2008.  She is the 19 year old daughter of Rowly and Deb Burton.  Rachel has one older sister, Sarah.  Rachel is a freshman at  Iowa State University majoring in animal science and agriculture education studies. 

Rachel’s goal is to enter veterinary school, after completing her undergraduate studies, or become a high school agriculture teacher.  At ISU Rachel is a part of the pre-vet club, Pi Beta Phi sorority, treasurer f the rodeo club, and secretary of her dorm floor.  Rachel is a life long member of National Barrel Horse Association, and was a four year member of Iowa High School Rodeo.

The Miss Teen Rodeo Iowa pageant is held in conjunction with the Miss Rodeo  Iowa pageant and the Tri-State Rodeo in Fort Madison Iowa in September.  During the pageant Rachel took home honors in Horsemanship and Photogenics.  She will spend the 2008 year traveling around  Iowa promoting the sport of professional rodeo.
